Lies of Omission

So, I don't write often about my person issues in my life because who wants to read a bunch of negativity.  However, I do have a question.

Today I shared some information with my spouse.  Just regular old information, nothing he asked about, nothing of any value, just plain old basic information. He got upset over the content of the information.  I asked if he would have rathered I didn't share the info.

His reply was yes, I you should have told me, not telling me would have been a lie by omission.

Now, what i am wondering is, is that really a lie by omission?  There are things that occur each and every day that we don't tell people.  I don't think those things are lies by omission.  A lie of omission is purposely keeping information to disillusion a person.

Enough of that.

Crazy or not??

How much crazy makes you crazy?  if crazy people don't know they are crazy and i know i am crazy does that make me not crazy?

SSDS

Yes that is a correct title.  Same shit different school.  Just got off the phone with bubba's algebra teacher.  For those that aren't privy to my real life, bubba started public school after he informed me he "didn't wanna do his work" in homeschool. I do not possess the patience or knowledge base to teach a high school boy. Lol. The transition went smoothly and he LOVES the social aspects. Fast forward to today....finals were all week. This morning his algebra teacher called, he is failing. Several answers on his final were "don't know" but even with that he got a 70. He would have passed IF he turned in his assignments. De ja vu all over again. Que the tutoring followed by the discipline hopefully not followed by the encouragement to seek other educational opportunities. Lol.

Come on now.....

So, i am in the process of find, securing financing and purchasing a new to me vehicle. Today I went down to a dealership I have done business with before, my family has done ALOT of business with and spoke with a very nice salesperson.  This post is not a rant about her, it is a rant about the absurdity of the car industry.  I have a decent SUV with minor issues but very high miles.  Hence the car shopping...lol.  Well anyways, I wanted to use this for a trade in to offset the down payment.  The take my beloved SUV and do their "appraisal"  and they come back with the offer of a lifetime.  How could i afford not to take it......they will give me a whole whopping $300 trade in for my vehicle.  Um, how about no.  I can get a big write off donating it.  I can keep it for that price.  That was an insult and not even worth the drive over there.  Oh well on to more vehicles to look at and experiences to have.

Tides and time

Things in my life are always in a constant state of flux. Much like the tides like experiences and problems ebb and flow. I can accept this and acknowledge my part in the problems I create. What I can not get in board with is the way that some days things seem to be forgotten/forgiven/accepted and thrn in the next breath everything is on the verge of erupting.  To quote someone I know "either move forward or get out. Stay still is the same as going backwards." Well that applies to more than just me.  Also, remember moving forward doesn't always mean fixing what has been broken.  It means moving forward----sometimes in new directions.  Sometimes with the same people. Sometimes new people. Sometimes the same places. Sometimes new places.  But any action is preferable to no action.

Happy Thanksgiving

Greetings and felicitations all.  Today after sleeping in till the late hour of 9----ish, i was greeted with a cup of coffee and Ferraro Rocher.  Both my son and daughter took over the kitchen and before work I got to dine on a full Thanksgiving dinner prepared by the kiddos.  We had ham, turkey, yams, green beans, mashed potatoes, dressing, gravy, pumpkin pie, and (not) pecan pie.  The pecan pie met an untimely consumption date by the only known living desert manatee.  In one gulp the entire pie was swallowed in the cavernous jaws of this rare creature.  If you have never seen one, they are LARGE, brown, giggly, and always ravenous!!  Beware, no food is safe around them.

Catch - 22

Ok, no this is not some ridiculous attempt at attention. It is an attempt at figuring out to deal with all these conflicting feelings I have.

Lately, I have been really struggling with depression and the overwhelming feelings of worthlessness.  I have a support network and am trying to deal with these feelings.

What I can not understand is the why.  yes, intellectually, i understand about chemical imbalances etc.  but why is this a constant struggle and how come sometimes it is easier than others to keep it in check.

Ok done sniveling

Shadow shifter

This is my new filly, Bug. (Docs QT Bug) I am fully convinced she is a chimera.  Take a look at her and her shadows. You can't tell me the shadows like a beautiful 18 month old filly.  Lol. She is going to be a lot of fun.

Life of a busy mom

This picture is how I spent my Sunday. The idyllic relaxation is taking place in the back seat of my pick up in the parking lot at the Bishop Defalco Retreat Center while my industrious Boy Scout was assisting a troop mate with their Eagle Scout project.  While some days I feel a little resentful of all the running around a pre-driving teenager requires, I know the day he no longer needs me is fast approaching.  Enjoy these moments and keep them tucked away in your heart and memories.  I love this kiddo with everything I have.

a cat-ass-trophe

My mom is writing this post for me.  This is why.

Friday, I was on vacation in Kansas.  I woke up with a headache so bad that I was throwing up from the pain.  No, I did not call my mom, as I am sure she will mention at least half a dozen more times.  I got up and my headache did not get better.  It stayed as bad and I stayed as sick.  I stayed so sick that my friends decided that I should pay a visit to the hospital.

I walked out on their lovely porch, leaned over the railing, and puked.  Did I mention that they live out in the country and they have a LOT of outside cats?  You know, the kind where you start out with one of each and end up with multitudes.  Anyway, I puked.  It was basically pure chicken broth which is what I had been mainlining because the only thing worse than puking chicken broth is puking your innards.  The cats, smelling broth, came running!

They thought they had found the mother lode of chicken broth.  Speaking of mothers, did I mention that I did not call mine?  Anyway, back to the cats.  Three of them gathered, scarfing up chicken broth from the ground.  Little did they know that I was not done.

I leaned over the porch rail and puked directly on the cats.

Did they care?  Heck, no, they just started licking each other!!!  and people say that dogs are gross!

....to be continued

A Man of God

This is one of the last pictures I have of a person that made a VERY lasting impression on my life. Doug Bolton died one year ago today, yet his memory and lessons live on. Doug was, and i am sure still is, a true man of God. He was not big on preaching the word....he lived the word. In all his actions and all his dealings he was honorable and a man of integrity. I would say rest in peace but in all reality I hope you are up there riding hard and loving the rewards you have earned. You are missed more than you can even imagine.

Good Dr.'s

It has been a long time since I have been to the "female doctor" and anyone who knows me, knows I am not Dr friendly.  I got a recommendation from a friend and called in Sept to make an appt.  The earliest they had was the end of November. Great 2 months to stress and worry.  On the fateful day I drove towards the office and within sight of my exit I blew a tire.  Someone took my 4 way out of my car so I couldn't change my own tire. :-(  Needless to say I missed the appt.  Called to reschedule and the next appt available was today (GREAT another 2 months of dread).  This morning I actually made it to the office.  Trembling hands provided the paperwork and insurance information.  After a brief wait I was escorted back for the scale of shame...lol, not as bad as I thought.  The pre appt questioning and vitals went smoothly but I was still terrified.  The staff was very nice and didn't laugh at me.  As I waited in the room for the Dr. I was as nervous as the proverbial long tailed cat in a room full of rockers. The Dr. came in and actually sat down, talked with me, didn't laugh at me (and believe me I can ask some stupid stuff) and made me feel completely at ease.  After our talk I changed into the cloth gown (thank God, no paper) and waited.  She was kind, informatory and professional.  If anyone is looking for a good Gyn in Amarillo I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Amanda Murdock. She and all her staff were just wonderful.  I will let you know if she continues to exceed my expectations when she preforms a small procedure for me.

Week one

Well y'all I have made it through my first week (almost) of going to the gym.  Tonight will be my fifth night and I must say I am kind of proud of myself.  On night one I did 2 miles in 30 minutes - a 15 minute mile. Last night I did 2 miles in 24 minutes - a 12 minute mile (yes I finished out my remaining 6 minutes).  A 3 minute improvement in 4 days is pretty good in my opinion.  I have gotten use to the new schedule and actually seem to enjoy it.

I will admit, I am a creature of habit.  I selected an elliptical machine my first night and used the same machine on night two, well the third night - gasp - someone was on "my" elliptical machine.  At least last night all was right with the world, "my machine was available.  Yay!!!!!

Day one

Well folks, last night was my first night at the gym.  I will say it is a very clean, friendly (not aggressively friendly), well run establishment.  There were plenty of apparatuses for everyone and no loud obnoxious people.

I got on my selected torture device, the elliptical machine, and set off at a moderate pace.  The thing is all computerized and wants all kinds of information.  I elected to do the manual program since I have no experience.  It asked for an amount of time I wish to exercise.....hmmm 25 minutes sounds good.  As the first few minutes ticked by I began to think that was maybe a little too ambitious..lol.  I will go for 10 minutes..lol. As the ten minute mark approached I was very happy to almost be done, but we know me, I am not a quitter. I decided I would go two more minutes...then two more.....then two more and before I knew it I had gone 30 minutes and over two miles.  Hey don't laugh, I am a fat out of shape girl.

Wish me luck tonight.

I am Lemming

So I have joined the new years band wagon.  I joined a gym.  It is my intention to get back in to some semblance of shape (not round). In order to help facilitate my going to the gym with some consistency I am instituting a jar system.  Each day I go, I put a dollar in the "Treat" Jar and each day I don't go,  I put a dollar in the "Trick" Jar.  When the "Treat" Jar reaches $100.00 i get to go by some cute article of clothing. When the "Trick" Jar reaches $50.00 I will give to someone I don't like.  If that isn't incentive to go, I don't know what is.  (Disclaimer: I get two days off a week.)

Wish me luck!!!
