Roxi

Today was a sad day.

My female Great Dane, Roxi, has been battling autoimmune hemolytic anemia (a genetic blood disorder) and today she succumbed to the disease.

At 8:59 this morning Roxi was put down. She would not be able to fight anymore and deserved to rest.

Her blood pressure was sooo low it barely registered. She had no capillary refill and her blood was as thin as water.

Roxi struggled to stay alive until I got home, I carried her to the pick-up (she couldnt even stand), took her to our loving vet who sooo sweetly put her down. She is at peace.

You could have heard a pin drop

Four Great Military Stories

When in England at a fairly large conference, Colin Powell was asked by theArchbishop of Canterbury if our plans for Iraq were just an example ofempire building by George Bush. He answered by saying, 'Over the years, the United States has sent many ofits fine young men and women into great peril to fight for freedom beyondour borders. The only amount of land we have ever asked for is enough to bury those that did not return.

You could have heard a pin drop.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Then there was a conference in France where a number of internationalengineers were taking part, including French and American. During a breakone of the French engineers came back into the room saying 'Have you heardthe latest dumb stunt Bush has done? He has sent an aircraft carrier toIndonesia to help the Tsunami victims. What does he intend to do, bombthem?' A Boeing engineer stood up and replied quietly: 'Our carriers have threehospitals on board that can treat several hundred people; they are nuclearpowered and can supply emergency electrical power to shore facilities; theyhave three cafeterias with the capacity to feed 3,000 people three meals aday, they can produce several thousand gallons of fresh water from seawater each day, and they carry half a dozen helicopters for use intransporting victims and injured to and from their flight deck. We haveeleven such ships; how many does France have?'
You could have heard a pin drop.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

A U.S. Navy Admiral was attending a naval conference that included Admiralsfrom the U.S., English, Canadian, Australian and French Navies. At acocktail reception, he found himself standing with a large group of Officersthat included personnel from most of those countries. Everyone was chattingaway in English as they sipped their drinks but a French admiral suddenlycomplained that, 'whereas Europeans learn many languages, Americans learnonly English.' He then asked, 'Why is it that we always have to speakEnglish in these conferences rather than speaking French?' Withouthesitating, the American Admiral replied 'Maybe it's because the Brits,Canadians, Aussies and Americans arranged it so you wouldn't have to speakGerman.'

You could have heard a pin drop.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Saving the BEST for LAST
A group of Americans, retired teachers, recently went to France on a tour.Robert Whiting, an elderly gentleman of 83, arrived in Paris by plane. AtFrench Customs, he took a few minutes to locate his passport in his carryon. "You have been to France before, monsieur?" the customs officer askedsarcastically. Mr. Whiting admitted that he had been to France previously. "Then youshould know enough to have your passport ready." The American said, "The last time I was here, I didn't have to show it." "Impossible. Americans always have to show your passports on arrival inFrance!" The American senior gave the Frenchman a long hard look. Then he quietlyexplained. "Well, when I came ashore at Omaha Beach on D-Day in '44 to helpliberate this country, I couldn't find any damn Frenchmen to show it to."
You could have heard a pin drop.
Fun Monday
From Swampy
Choose a topic/theme and make an alphabetical list of words, phrases, photos...however you want to share your topic/theme.
Topics can range from pet-peeves, vacations, people who have influenced your life, jokes, favorites, philosopher's quotes/sayings, birds, flowers...anything. The sky is the limit. Your ABC list can be depicted with words, photos, illustrations... You are limited only by your imagination. Be funny. Be serious. Be creative. Be sarcastic. Be there, or be square.
And, yes, of course you may bend the rules. Just entertain us. If you can't do all TWENTY-SIX, do as many as you can. (If you have kiddos, let them join the fun and help with the list. Make it a family, brainstorming session.)
Who am I to give you guidelines for Fun Monday? I have bent broken most Fun Monday rules for over a year now, and all of you have been gracious enough to put me on your list. Here is your chance to bring it on. If you don't know the alphabet, make one up. In other words, just have fun and teach us something using your own set of A B C's.
Fun Monday
Fun Monday is hosted by........me.
The assignment:
Music plays a vital role in most of our lives. It is everywhere. I want to hear the ONE song that is you. The song that whenever it is heard, you smile. I am not looking for the soundtrack of your life, just that one song. Your friends hear it and think of you. You can post the video, the lyrics, the wav file. However you want to post it is great.
The song that is "me" was "given" to my by a friend of mine. It is a recent addition to the "Julie" songs, but fit much better than it's predecessor. Thanks Myq. Even my son says "Mom, thats you." at certain lines in the song. When an 8 y/o knows its you, then how can I be wrong...lol
So... with out further ado....enjoy
Cowboy Crush performing
Miss Difficult (click the link to enjoy the tune)
She was born with her fist all cletched up for fightin'
She looked out the window and she laughed at the lightin'
Just the kind of citizen this town needs
Welcome to Difficult Tennessee
Yeah Yeah
She was born in the sight of her sister and her brother
She tended to bite when they tried to hug her
She ran with the dogs, she'd be gone for hours
She climbed on the trees and she dug up the flowers
Oooh Oooh
Raised on the banks of Defeated Creek
Every boy around was in love
With the black eyed critter with the little bare feet
That they called Miss Difficult
She was skippin' outta school when she was only seven
She hot-wired a truck at the age of eleven
Beautiful child, blessed by nature
Breakin' hearts left and right when she was a teenager
Oooh Oooh OoohYeay Yeay
There's never been a beauty pagent in this town
But everybody knows well enough
There ain't nobody gonna take that crown
Away from Miss Difficult
Any guy would be wise to watch his manners
She comes down hard like ball peen hammer
Tell her what she wants to hear, Don't you bust her bubble
And watch how you say it or there's gonna be trouble
Here she comes, Miss Difficult
Oh yeay, Miss Difficult
Oh yeay, Miss Difficult
Oooh Oooh Oooohyeay Yeay YeayYeayYeay.
Click the link at the top to visit the rest of the Fun Monday Players and check back with Sayre for next weeks assignment.
soooooo NOT normal, no matter what "they" say
Ha Ha... my Mother is more normal than me
You Are Fairly Normal
You scored 65% normal on this quiz
Like most people you are normal in some ways...
But you aren't a completely normal person. You're a little weird too!
Why You Are Normal:
You would rather be pale than tan
You think glasses can make someone more attractive
You would eat meat from a cloned animal
You find the Macarena to be the more embarrassing dance
You'd rather have rats than cockroaches in your home
Why You Aren't Normal:
You rather screw someone over than be screwed over
If you had to, you rather live without laughter and still have music
You prefer the moon to the sun
You eat the cupcake first
You don't keep up with your horoscope
Kicking the Bucket
For Fun Monday, Tiggerlane would like the following:
Have you heard of The Bucket List? Well, that's what I want from you! Make a list of things you want to do before you die. It must be at least five items - and you can make it as long as you desire. Photos are optional. And let's hear about some of the wackiest, most bizarre to-do's on your Bucket List!
So, after working 24 out of the last 36 hours, here is my list:
  1. To live a year in Ireland
  2. To live a year in Italy
  3. To own a 1968 Mustang, again!
  4. To show in one major APHA (American Paint Horse Association) show with NV.
  5. I would say to find that one person to love for the rest of my life, but since I would be dying, that would be pretty dang tacky.
  6. I would like to go shopping without worrying about money. Not just shopping for me and no particular store, just shopping without worry.
So there you have it! Check back tomorrow for next Monday's topic.
Proof that I am a fruit
My mom did this quiz so I thought I'd try it.
You Are a Pear
You are independent, intelligent, and a free thinker.You can accomplish great things, especially when you do them on your own.
You are direct, honest, and sometimes even a bit brutal.There's not much that gets in the way of you and your ambition.
While you are hard nosed, you do have a much sweeter side to you.It takes times for you to soften toward someone, but once you do, you'll be their friend for life.
Buying a New Car
FOR MY VET.......that's right. One of the dogs is at the vet.
This sweet lil dog
kicked this dog's behind.
Well not his behind but she bit him in the EYE. Not the eye lid. Not the eye area but the EYE.
Bo (previously known as MoJo) is at the wonderful Dr. Hutto's today to find out if he will lose the eye or if he can keep it.
In fine sick and damaged fashion, my mother and I have decided if he must lose the eye, he will again have a name change to............................................."Toby's Dad" (listen to the video below and see if you can figure out why)
Keep Bo in your thoughts please. (A couple prayers to the $$ fairy wouldn't hurt either...lol)
Yippy Skippy
In order to help me get passed this writer's block I was suffering Meg over at Megnificent, Just Megnificent has tagged me with this MeMe.
The rules are as follows:
(1) Link to the person that tagged you. (2) Post the rules on your blog. (3) Share six non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself. (4) Tag six random people at the end of your post by linking to their blogs. (5) Let each random person know that they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their site.
6 quirks about me
a) I love warm flat soda. If it has been in the car on a hot day, that is my favorite.
b) I am the queen of the impossible relationship. If there is a man within a 30 mile radius that is emotionally unvailable, I will be attracted to him and vice versa. It will enver go anywhere and many hours will be spent for naught.
c) I collect the "Trail of Painted Ponies" statues and love them. I got my first one as a christmas gift from lil man. It was this one
d) My favorite chap stick is Chicken Poop. I use it to the point of obsession. If I forget it, I have to go home and get it.
e) All of my purebred dogs have been named based on some connection to Alexander the Great.
~ Sterlings Silver Alexander (the Great)
~ FooBar's Texas Got Rox(anna)
~ Bo (Bucephalus)
f) I have a retarded fear of the phone. Sometimes it is soo intense I cant even call family.
Ok now who am i going to tag:
Jenny The Bloggess
RoboCop of Life and Times of a TurnKey
Crystal of Boobs, Injuries and Dr. Pepper
Junebug of God put a Smile on my Face
Catwoman of Canadian Thoughts in Texas
and last but certainly not least
Ree of Confessions of a Pioneer Woman
Fun Monday 01/14/08
This week's Fun Monday is brought to us by Ann from In It For The Long Run and this is her assignment: I want to hear about a web site and not just about any old web site. I want to hear about a web site that's changed your life. A web site that you can't live without. A web site whose inventor you'd like to see win a McArthur Genius Grant.Maybe you want to sing the praises of a dating web site for helping you meet your spouse. Maybe the only thing getting you through the dark days of winter is an Internet comic. No story is too big, no story is too small - I want to hear it all on Monday.
The website I am going to share with y'all is Dreamhorse. If you are ever in the market for a horse, this site is a must look. I found the horse of my dreams here and have helped many other people find their "DreamHorse" Even if you arent looking to start your own herd or add to one you already have, it is nice just to look around. This is what I found on Dreamhorse.
New Boy
MoJo
This is my new dog. His name is MoJo. He is a 2 11/12 y/o Bull Mastiff.
MoJo is bigger than the average small pick-up
MoJo does NOT like ginger snaps
But how can a girl not love a dog that will make her feel oh so much better about her wrinkles later in life
