Fun Monday ~ 01-10-11

This month's host for Fun Monday is Ari. This week she wants to know what it is we have left unfinished, could be furniture or could be closure for something more significant. Here is the assignment in her words:

Topic for 1/10/11: From the mundane to the emotional, from paneling the basement walls to patching it up with the brother in Virginia you haven't spoken to since you voted for Carter and he didn't, unfinished business is something left undone or incomplete. It even can haunt you. What's your unfinished business?

This is a tough one for me: I could go with the simple finish unpacking my house from the move, to the oh so serious, fish or cut bait get a divorce from my son's dad. I have been separated from him for over 7 years. Can we say unfinished...lol. So lets see do I want to be serious or whimsical?

I think my unfinished business is going to college. Do I have a career path in mind...nope. Do I like school...not only nope but HELL NOPE! Do I think I need to go in order to show my son education is important....yep. Drat the luck, trying to be a good parent is killin me.

Now that you know my unfinished business, hope on back to Ari's and see what others haven't been doing...lol

Well, yes, education is important, but if you don't like it and you're getting by okay with out it, you can still show responsibility by taking an interest in his education, and by volunteering your time, either with his class, or to other charities. Being a parent is really hard, isn't it?

I want to go back to school - after spending the last 30 years doing television, it's time to do something else. When my boss retires, I think I need to leave - which gives me about four years to figure it out.

Problem is... after all this time, I still don't know what I want to do when I grow up!

If you do not like school or you do not have a career path in mind, you probably can skip college. However, college is really not like the K-12 education. There is usually no answering questions at the end of the chapter and many classes do not have homework other than reading and studying for tests. But being a good parent probably does not require you to go to college.

You can show your child that education is important without going to college. Maybe the reason you haven't pursued further education is that you just haven't found an area of study that calls to you. I had to try several before hit the mark. As for that other unfinished business, I have no words of wisdom as I only know how to have a relationship with a four-legged male. :-)

Yes, I think about going back to school, too.

There is no down side to wanting to further your education or simply take a class that interests you. Start out slow and see if this is what you really want for YOU.

I don't think college is quite like school! Its a bit more fun! LOL I do however disagree with your statement about setting an example. Teach a child to read and you hand him the world as far as education is concerned. Anything we WANT to learn, once we can read is not so hard.

Forced learning is not learning. Its brain washing and memory skills. Oh dear, I better not get started!

Nice to meet you lovely!
